Training Verifications

Physicians who trained in internal medicine and/or its specialties and subspecialties at the University of Toronto, Department of Medicine, may request verification of training within in the department. These training verifications are for postgraduate medical education only. Undergraduate studies will not be verified by the department.

Training can be verified for physicians who trained in the Department of Medicine’s programs listed below:

Cardiology Emergency Medicine Geriatric Medicine Medical Oncology Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
Clinical Immunology & Allergy Endocrinology & Metabolism Hematology Nephrology Respirology
Clinical Pharmacology & Toxicology Gastroenterology Infectious Diseases Neurology Rheumatology

Evaluations will not be printed from POWER as part of the training verification. If the trainee so wants evaluations printed, they are able to log into POWER to obtain evaluations themselves. Note: Any training verification inquiry dating back before 1976 should be directed to the Hospital Credentialing Office that the trainee trained at, as the registration was done directly with the hospital.

Costs Associated with Training Verifications

Please note there are costs associated with training verifications by the Department of Medicine. Payments are to be made by money order or certified cheque in Canadian or American funds. Certified cheques or money orders are to be made payable to the University of Toronto, Department of Medicine. Personal cheques, cash and credit cards will not be accepted.

Please note: The Department of Medicine does not offer notarization services.

 Timelines for Training Verification

Training verifications will not be processed until payment has been received and consent to release information has been signed by the trainee and received by the Department of Medicine.

Upon retrieval, training verifications will then be finalized within 10 business days of receiving payment and consent.
