We are extremely delighted to congratulate Dr. Jennifer Chu (SMH) on her promotion to Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Jennifer Chu joined the faculty in the Division of Emergency Medicine in 2014 as a Lecturer, Clinician Teacher at St. Michael’s Hospital (SMH) and does occasional shifts at North York GeneralHospital. Since completing her residency at the University of Toronto, Dr. Chu has also completed a Master's in Public Health from the University of British Colombia, and the Master Teacher Program at U of T. In 2017, she successfully passed her Continuing Faculty Appointment, and was recommended for promotion.

Dr. Chu has focused her energies on both education and operations in the Emergency Department. She is actively involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate learners both at the bedside and in formal teaching. She has held several education administration roles including participating as a core member for the Emergency Medicine Residency Exam Committee and is currently the Clinical Clerkship Coordinator for SMH ED. In the last three years, Dr. Chu has been nominated for multiple teaching awards including the Outstanding Clinical Teaching Award in Emergency Medicine, the Fitzgerald Academy Teaching Award, and the Anna Jarvis Award for Teaching Excellence. In addition, Dr Chu has led several quality initiatives at SMH including the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis, and Suboxone use for opioid withdrawal.

Chu is a very motivated and passionate clinician and educator. She is an excellent role model for our learners.
