On May 28, the Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics held the annual Co-Learning Curriculum in Quality Improvement (QI) Final Presentation Day, showcasing QI projects by 29 resident and faculty teams in divisions across the Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics.

The Co-Learning Curriculum in QI, created by the Department of Medicine’s Drs. Brian Wong and Kaveh Shojania and run by individual Departments in conjunction with the Centre for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety (C-QuIPS), is an innovative faculty-resident training program that engages over 150 faculty and residents each year.

Bringing together 27 different training programs across two departments, the presentation day exhibited numerous examples of QI projects impacting frontline care, from improving the shingles vaccination rate to decreasing repetitive blood work.

“The Co-Learning QI Day is the jewel in the crown of the QI curriculum,” said Dr. Gillian Hawker, Chair of the Department of Medicine in her remarks to the event’s attendees. “To all of you in this room, this is the beginning of your leadership journey in QI.”
