Sinai Health System

Chaim Bell, Physician-in-Chief

Dr. Chaim Bell has been appointed Physician- in-Chief, Sinai Health System, and will assume the Sandra and Lionel Waldman Family Chair for the Physician-in-Chief. Dr. Bell has been Interim Physician-in-Chief since last October. (Read more)

Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC)

Rob Silver, 2017 Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC) Clinical Teacher Award

Each year the AFMC grants six individual awards in different categories including the President's Award for Exemplary National Leadership in Academic Medicine, the May Cohen Equity, Diversity and Gender Award, the Young Educator's Award, the Clinical Teacher Award, the John Ruedy Award for Innovation in Medical Education and the Outstanding Contribution to Faculty Development in Canada Award. In each of the 17 Faculties of Medicine across Canada, nominations are requested in each award category with a maximum of two nominations in each of the six categories. These nominees are selected from the entire University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine.

Canadian Rheumatology Association (CRA)

Vinod Chandran, Young Investigator Award

The Canadian Rheumatology Association initiated the Young Investigator Award in 1990.  It is a competitive, national award aimed at providing, “recognition of a young Canadian investigator who has contributed significant, original research in rheumatology.”  Awardees must be within seven years of establishing their career as an independent investigator and will have led/published landmark, original research (clinical or basic science) in rheumatology as judged by peers and citations.
